Her journey began with an intrigue in the body’s innate ability to heal itself and a curiosity about the interconnectedness of things in the natural world. Initially studying nutrition and Western herbalism, Lucy found Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which appealed to her heritage. The Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences offers an excellent 4-year full-time diploma program which Lucy began in 1999. It was a rigorous program focused on TCM fundamentals as well as Chinese language, history, Qigong, and Tai Chi.
After graduating with honours and successfully challenging board exams, she emerged full of enthusiasm, ready to share TCM with her patients. Since that time she has had the pleasure to work with countless patients on the Saanich peninsula, with whom she has witnessed profound positive changes in health.

Bruce’s career started in 2006 after graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria. He was drawn to this profession through his lifelong love of sport. As a kid, he played as many sports as he could, and when he wasn’t playing an organized sport, he was off running through the neighboring forest, climbing trees, or exploring on his bike.
His vision became clear: to find work that would help support his desire to stay fit and healthy for life, sport and adventure. What better way to do this than pursue a career in this amazing profession and learn more about the miraculous workings of the human body.
Over the years his practice has evolved from a biomechanical model of pain to a biopsychosocial one. This approach looks at the complex interaction between the biological, psychological and social factors that underlay pain. It has led to a paradigm shift in how he thinks and feels about pain, and consequently how he treats patients with pain.
With this in mind, his goals for treatment have become clearly defined. The patient’s comfort is always paramount. He provides a safe and calming environment, and listens attentively to each individual’s story without judgment. Along with educating his patients, he uses a variety of techniques to try to decrease any perceived threat to the nervous system and utilize science-based best practices to treat the neurophysiology of pain. His patients always leave feeling like they’ve been worked on, without feeling like they’ve been worked over.
When Bruce isn’t treating patients, he can be found playing with his two young boys (aka the two terrors) and hanging out with his beautiful wife. And, when the universe allows it, he’ll be out running, mountain biking, and playing basketball.

Vanessa feels extremely fortunate to work in a profession in which she can help empower patients to take an active role in their recovery and get back to what they love doing. Her path to physiotherapy started at the University of Victoria, where an interest in the workings of organisms and a curiosity about the brain led to a major in biology and a minor in psychology. Through her undergraduate degree, Vanessa worked part-time at a hospital, where she felt that helping people in healthcare was immensely rewarding. Following her undergraduate degree, her sights narrowed on physiotherapy- a career that combined her studied interests, her desire to motivate and help others, and the value she held in leading an active lifestyle.
The decision to pursue a career in physiotherapy took Vanessa to Scotland where she completed her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University. Although living in the United Kingdom was a great adventure and gave her an international perspective on healthcare practice, Vanessa was excited to return to and serve her hometown of Victoria. Since completing the program, Vanessa’s drive to continue her professional development has never dwindled. She has taken courses in manual therapy, pain science, IMS/dry needling, concussion management, and vestibular (dizziness) rehabilitation. As a physiotherapist, Vanessa strongly believes in taking the time to really listen to a patient’s story, addressing their worries or concerns, and understanding their values and goals.
Vanessa is thrilled to work among other healthcare practitioners who share her enthusiasm for clinical application of current research and the ever-evolving development of patient care. She deeply values the philosophy of Tall Tree Integrated Health Centre, which fosters a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and on-going learning. Further, Vanessa is delighted to return to and practice in Cordova Bay- the neighbourhood she grew up in.
Outside of the clinic, Vanessa leads and active lifestyle- she can usually be found in the forest testing her bravery and skills on a mountain bike, trail running with Roscoe the grumpy cattle dog, or spending time with family and friends.

Curtis has always enjoyed helping people, which made his journey to a career in Physiotherapy a natural fit. Practicing since 2012, his journey started at the University of Victoria in 2004 studying kinesiology (the science of human movement and exercise). This began his thirst to understand all aspects of the human body, especially movement. He finally attained his goal of becoming a physiotherapist graduating from the University of British Columbia in 2012, he has been practicing in Victoria since. Curtis has a bottomless appetite for learning and growing professionally; to this end he has taken courses in manual and manipulative therapy, IMS/dry needling, vestibular and neurological rehabilitation, as well as chronic pain seminars. Having worked in private practice, pain management, head injury programs, and in a neuro-rehabilitation clinic, Curtis works with all types of clients. Sports injuries, chronic pain conditions, and neurological disorders are all within Curtis’ area of expertise. While he maintains a diverse interest in treating all types of conditions, Curtis particularly enjoys focusing on spinal pain, headaches, hip, knee and ankle conditions, sports injuries, temporomandibular dysfunction, chronic pain, diabetes-related conditions, vestibular disorders, stroke and spinal cord injuries.
Inspired and enthused by an approach that focuses on providing his clients with the best care Curtis completed a Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy, which focuses on evidence based practice in the clinical science of physiotherapy.
Curtis was naturally drawn to Tall Tree Integrated Health Centre based on the clinic’s orientation to excellence, fun, and positively changing the landscape of healthcare on Vancouver Island and in BC. He is very excited to be working with like-minded professionals dedicated to making a positive difference to their patients, community, and profession.
When not engrossed in the latest rehabilitation science publication, Curtis loves spending time with his family and friends travelling around BC and the west coast finding adventures involving the beach and mountains. Having grown-up in northern BC and the Yukon he relishes any chance to play in the snow, and has maintained a love for board sports, basketball, photography and anything involving creative movement.

As a local, born and raised on the Saanich peninsula, Stefan is delighted to be working in his community with Tall Tree Integrated Health. Growing up, Stefan took part in a variety of activities, including Karate, baseball, hockey and weightlifting – but unlike many of his colleagues, it was not personal injury that led him onto the path of physiotherapy. Many influences of Stefan’s upbringing, including time living in a developing country during his formative years, ingrained in him a strong desire to help people, whatever career he chose. As he became more fascinated by human movement and physiology, these two passions came together in a pursuit to become a Physiotherapist.
The fist step in Stefan’s journey was completing his Bachelors Degree in Athletic and Exercise Therapy at Camosun College, where he graduated top of his class, and as valedictorian. During the program, his field placements working with high-level hockey, soccer and rugby teams gave him the opportunity to witness and treat a variety of sports-related injuries, as well as develop injury prevention techniques. He also gained experience treating in clinical settings, helping individuals recover from musculoskeletal injuries through exercise prescription and manual therapy. During this time Stefan also worked as a fitness class instructor and personal trainer, helping people achieve their fitness and rehabilitation goals.
Next, Stefan attended the University of Albert and completed his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. This program offered him the opportunity to work with a multitude of patients including those recovering from joint replacement surgeries, heart and lung transplants, strokes, and ACL injuries. With the combination of his Athletic Therapy and Physiotherapy experience, Stefan has a wide range of skills and is able to work with a diverse demographic.
Stefan is looking forward to continuing his educational journey and professional development, and will be pursuing his Manual Physical Therapy DPT Certification through EIM in the near future.
What Stefan loves most about physiotherapy is having the ability to help people help themselves get back to the things they love to do – from playing hockey to playing with their grandkids. Stefan believes that the key to success is curating a comfortable environment for the patient to thrive and actively participate in their own recovery. His calm and patient demeanour allows patients to relax and feel heard. Stefan focuses on an evidence-based approach, which includes patient education, collaborative goal setting, exercise and manual therapy, to help his clients feel empowered and facilitate their road to recovery.
When Stefan isn’t working, he loves spending quality time with his wife and animals, playing sports such as hockey, golf and squash, and exploring the beauty of Vancouver Island.
As a local, born and raised on the Saanich peninsula, Stefan is delighted to be working in his co...

Chantelle’s interest in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) sparked while she was doing her Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology at Trinity Western University. Working as the student trainer for the women’s volleyball team, she completed many clinical hours at the campus sport and rehabilitation clinic. During these hours Chantelle observed how restful Acupuncture and TCM was, especially for difficult cases and cases where emotional components were high. What was most intriguing was it’s ability to treat internal concerns as well as musculoskeletal. In her senior year she chose Acupuncture and TCM as a topic for a final research paper. After conducting very thorough research on TCM and its history, Chantelle was sold on pursuing it after graduation.
Finishing her Bachelor of Human Kinetics in Kinesiology in 2006, Chantelle moved back to her home on the peninsula and began her work in allied health care. She joined the BC Association of Kinesiologists and began working in active rehabilitation on the peninsula where she would continue for the next 12 years and also where she would eventually join Tall Tree. She found mentors in long time TCM professionals Jeff Jones and Mikiala Christie and in 2008 enrolled in The Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Victoria.
While in Acupuncture school, Chantelle continued to work as a kinesiologist and certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She graduated with a Diploma in Traditonal Chinese Medicine in in 2011. In the two years that followed, Chantelle did some travelling with her husband, continued her work in Kinesiology and then in 2013, her daughter was born. After a bit of time off, Chantelle became a member of the College of Traditonal Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC and began her Acupuncture practice.
For the last 5 years, Chantelle has had a fulfilling practice on the peninsula. Leaning on her kinesiology background, Chantelle has a lot of success with treating pain and improving functioning in musculoskeletal cases. She can personally relate to her peer group when treating pre natal cases and womens health. Chantelle’s approach is to be very candid with and build a rapport where patients feel comfortable. Other health concerns that Chantelle treats are headaches, anxiety and depression, PTSD, insomnia, and stress.
After the birth of her twin boys in 2017, Chantelle rejoined the amazing team at Tall Tree as an Acupuncturist, putting kinesiology on pause for now. She is thrilled to be working alongside experienced and successful Lucy Mei Lee. When not in the clinic, Chantelle can be found chasing after her children, hiking, skiing and kickboxing. Recently, she’s taken up Irish dancing with her daughter.
